Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year. The Princes Trust address this by giving practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. We help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education or training. The Princes Trust run programmes that encourage young people to take responsibility for themselves - helping them build the life they choose rather than the one they've ended up with.
The Princes Trust is a charity that is very close to BiG Storage Chairman, Andrew Donaldson. Andrews first company Active Supply & Design Ltd was set up with a £2000 loan from the Prince's Trust in 1991 and has become one of the 10 most successful businesses ever helped by the Trust in it's 25 year history. BiG Storage is Andrew's 3rd chain of self-storage warehouses with the previous two chains being successfully sold to PLC's. BiG Storage opened it's first site in Chester in 2006 and now has 5 sites operating across Cheshire and Lancashire and is the 10th largest operator in the UK with half a million square foot of storage space. Andrew has now won 19 business awards since 1991 and without the help and aid of The Princes Trust, none of this would have been possible.
