The Warrington Wolves Foundation and BiG Storage are poised to embark upon the first of many joint community based initiatives with the introduction of a new basketball team.

The BiG Storage Warrington Wolves Basketball Team launch as a new local team and will be an entirely non profit venture bringing basketball to the people of Warrington. Monthly home games, pre-match basketball taster sessions and shoot-outs, with Wolves team mascot Wolfie at the helm, will provide a fantastic opportunity to the community at large to become Wolves basketball team supporters.

The Warrington Wolves Foundation is already a huge success in the town, delivering a wide range of sports programmes to the community with the philosophy of motivating and inspiring all through the power of sport. Local self storage operator BiG Storage, has consolidated its sponsorship of the Warrington Wolves by continuing its shirt sponsorship for a second year and promises to deliver a range of exciting schemes to invigorate the fans. Both names will now work together to create what promises to be the latest phenomenon to come out of Warrington.

The venture will roll out a programme in 2010 which will take basketball into the heart of the community via schools and will involve children in the sport with the help of the team and Wolfie.

Birchwood Sports Centre will be the home of the BiG Storage Warrington Wolves with their first game of the season against Team Northumbria on Saturday 31st October tipping off at 5pm. There will also be a Charity Family Fun Day, with free entry, prior to the event, starting at 2pm. The fun filled event for all the family will include a basketball shootout with some of the players, Fusion Dance Team, photo opportunity with Wolfie and the Warrington Wolves showing off their prize Challenge Cup, as well as lots of other activities.

To celebrate the inauguration of this exciting new venture, tickets for the game will be FREE and are available from the Warrington Guardian, BiG Storage on Manchester Road, Woolston, The Wolfware shop and Birchwood Sports Centre.

Andrew Donaldson from BiG Storage comments ‘ Both BiG Storage and the Warrington Wolves Foundation are very excited at the prospect of the new basketball team and hope that it will inspire a legion of new fans and participants to the sport which is gaining tremendous popularity in this country’.
